Mrirt rugs took their name from the place they were known to come from.
The Mrirt tribes are about 200km to the west of the Beni Ourain tribes and they use similar weaving techniques, packing the wool on the vertical loom with a metal comb. which gives a fine and silky texture to the wool.
Mrirt rugs making was and continues to be an integral part of their culture, with techniques used in production passed down from generation to generation using the fine wool from their herds.
Mrirt rugs were always considered noble rugs due to their superior quality and comfort, it is kept pure, never processed, natural fire-resistant repels stains and is both warmth & sound-insulating.
