As smooth as wine. This colour way of KILIM Mats is softer than the others due to the almost velvet like wool used to weave them. Little details like a bright closing thread at the fringe makes these particular lovely examples of Kilim design.
Also great for hanging as decoration.
Small Kilim carpet style mat. A variety of patterns from berber symbols. Each a slightly different size.
Loose threads are more common but can be snipped off without effecting the weave.

All from in the same village by different members of the same family. They represent their district. They choose to include berber symbols which have significance to them, you will often find the same symbols tattooed on the women's chins or foreheads.
Kilim, is of Turkish origin, denoting a flat woven pile using less textiles, whose many variations share a common heritage and are practiced all across Turkey, the Balkans and throughout the Arab World. The lightweight weave makes these rugs perfect for use in the hot summer months and embraced by tribal weavers. Kilim rugs are a startling contract to their kin Berber rugs, which will be found adorning the tents of tribes in the desert. These thinner rugs lend themselves to the hotter climates and can be used to create entire room carpets.
