Story
Boucherouite rugs are creative masterpieces woven by Berber women in areas of Morocco where wool is scarce. New life is breathed into old garments as they are torn into strips and incorporated along with wool, bits of cotton, sometimes even gold or silver threads, to make an abstract design like no other. Amazigh (Berber) women may incorporate their own imaginative ideas, inherited tribal symbols and personal beliefs into their creation. Colors and patterns are blended creatively to produce truly stunning works of art unique to each weaver. The end result is often a riot of color and life.
